Brampton
The site was the location of a former bus garage in Old Road, Brampton on the outskirts of Chesterfield. With a brief to maximise the floor area, a mix of apartments and townhouses was decided upon. In order to blend with the neighbouring houses, the design took the form of a mix of apartments and townhouses with the appearance of a row of houses.
Ground floor apartments were designed with separate accesses, which allowed the position of doors on elevations to form a rhythm associated with rows of houses.
A focal point 3 storey apartment building was designed at the corner of the site giving the appearance of a large Georgian house. This was linked to the adjacent block with a 2½ storey bridge unit, maximising floor area and providing access to 5 townhouses within the courtyard and parking for the development.
