The former site of the Stevenson’s Dye Works, located on the edge of the Peak District, came with many challenges. Existing constraints such as steep topography, river frontage, flood plain, railway line and the route of the former Cromford Canal, existing buildings of local heritage interest and a large diameter water main crossing the site presented numerous challenges to the provision of a commercially viable scheme that would be acceptable to the Local Planning Authority.
Urban Designs undertook a full design package for this development, including obtaining Reserved Matters planning approval, house type design, obtaining technical approvals, construction drawings, and technical support whilst the project is on site. Planning was granted in 2019 and work commenced on site in the summer of 2020. With the sales centre now open, new homes are expected to be delivered from summer 2021. The scheme is expected to be completed in 2023.
